Sorry for the lack of effort in my recent posts. There have been some health complications and finals / AP exams are coming up so I haven't had as much time lately. I've really been wanting to do a longer text post instead of just a few photos.
But on with it.
Black is without a doubt my favorite color (or rather, lack of) to wear. Brights and pastels and colorblocking are fun, but if I'm ever to just grab a piece from my closet, I always go for black. It's classic, timeless, and versatile. My personal style does range a lot, though. Some days I'll be more minimalistic and modern, others I'll lean towards more feminine pieces, and some other days I just don't want to wear clothes at all. What? Right, so, for school I may vary throughout the days. But what I feel most comfortable wearing to school is something within the ballpark of simple, modern, French chic.
Black tops in a variety of sleeve-lengths, fabrics, necklines, textures, etc, etc are such a staple in my wardrobe. They're very easy to work with and tweak to fit any outfit. The one I'm wearing is a slightly boxy, loose, black velvet tee. Such a great piece, but such a dust and lint magnet. I'm constantly having to fish out the lint roller.
On the bottom, I'm wearing some basic black cuffed capris. Which, admittedly, are too long even in the petites size.
Too add some height and to keep the look from being too casual, I've added some black patent pumps with a sensible heel height of a little less than 4". They're a good medium if you anticipate a long while of walking or standing, but you still want to be in slightly dressier shoes. I've also paired the pumps with a black patent clutch with a silver and gold clasp.
And to keep that effortless French vibe, I've skipped out on jewelry besides my standard pocketwatch necklace. I personally love jewelry and stacking bracelets are typically part of my summer look, but too much jewelry tends to make me feel more confined and unable to freely move my limbs without snagging on something or stabbing someone's eye out with a ring.
