SPACEGIRL.

Galaxy print + black leather + sheer white chiffon. About as good as it gets. I was finally able to wear this dress for a night out this summer. It's been hanging in my closet, just waiting for an opportunity. I threw on this sheer chiffon blazer that has been very lenient during the hot weather that we're having. (108 degrees yesterday?!) I love a good blazer and summer heat can't stand in the way of that.
This gold cuff makes me feel rather superhero-y. Hence the title.

So besides saving the world, I've also started packing recently. I'll be headed to NYC for a few weeks so I plan on doing a little packing post soon.

SUMMER LONG.

SUMMER LONG

My lazy summer days usually involve maxi skirts and black tees. This particular maxi skirt was kindly sent to me (along with quite a few other gorgeous pieces!) by my cousin, who owns an online store that carries her own designs.
I have lots of various photos from the past month of summer so look out for a photo post some time soon.

LACE GARDEN.

 LACE GARDEN

June's drawing to an end and I'm starting to actually start some of the things I had on my to-do list. Recently, I've been renovating my closet. New garment racks, organization system, different floor plan to maximize space, etc. (and extra space means more shopping to fill it up. Teehee.) All this renovating has let me explore the dark, poorly-folded depths of my closet, where I found this lovely floral bodycon dress. On top of it, I layered on a black lace crop top (courtesy of SugarLips). It's going to be a fun summer piece just over a bandeau, but also a great layering piece later this year. I finished off with a little gold headpiece.

YOU WANNA BE HIGH FOR THIS.

YOU WANNA BE HIGH FOR THIS.

As you might have been able to tell from my past posts, my favorite piece this summer is the tunic. This sheer blouse tunic (last seen here) has been a go-to piece in my wardrobe for pool days, lounging around the house, running errands, etc etc. I paired it over a halter neck top from the 90's and a pair of high waisted shorts.

DSQUARED FW 12/13.

It's only late June, but the new Dsquared2 campaign by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott almost has me ready for back-to-school.

Dean and Dan hit it right on the spot with casting. This had to have been the most attractive student body at any school, anywhere. Daphne and Bette were just perfect and Simon van Meervene looked delish. All the models were killing it. And really, a good model casting can make any ad campaign a hit.
Following with the school theme of their fall collection, the video was set in a 60's-style high school classroom. Not the most innovative or original campaign, but it was very appealing and very cute. The clothes were parallel with the Dsquared2 aesthetic and there were quite a few pieces that I'd love to get my hands on, especially those encrusted frames from the Fall 2012 eyewear collection.

Great soundtrack too. Gotta love a little 60's Shirley Ellis.

LLBD.

LLBD

Little black leather dress sounds a lot more natural, but LLBD looks better than LBLD. I found this number in the back of my closet, where it's been since winter of last year. It has never struck me as a summer dress, but it's been a staple lately. It's sleeveless and not too thick, so the heat isn't too awful. I belted the dress with this snakeskin texture skinny belt (which did not fit and knotting it was the only option). The dress itself is pretty plain. Just an exposed zipper in the back and these big Proenza-esque utilitarian pockets. Over the dress, I have on a semi-sheer crinkle blouse from H&M. For accessories, I have on a couple silver (which doesn't happen too often. I'm more of a gold person) wrist pieces, the same white clutch from my last post, and my current sunglasses. My shoes are these little grey, lace-up wedges.

FLORAL WEB.

FLOWER WEB.

The best thing about summer is being able to take your time. Anna and I went off to the pond to feed the ducks and turtles and fish, whom were later eaten by a random herring. Not a particularly productive summer day, but still enjoyable.
I'm wearing a romper from MotelRocks that is covered in daisies (empty guess? I'm not a flower expert) with black petals and bright blue centers. It gives off a boho vibe that is carried out with the long black fringe on this sheer, black coverup that I got off a vintage seller online. Another piece that I'm dying to wear to the beach. I finished off with some arm candy and a basic white envelope clutch.

Anna changed dresses for the lake. No confusion. Just pulling a Gaga.

Quick sandwich from the Fresh Market and my current read, House of Versace by Deborah Ball. Probably not the most accurate book, but it's good for some entertainment.

WELCOME TO THE DARK FOREST + Q&A W/ ANNA

WELCOME TO THE DARK FOREST.

Anna and I took these photos yesterday in disgusting, grey, humid heat which will be leading throughout this whole week. Hours of summer tanning have been converted into movies indoors and online window shopping.

In this look I'm wearing a black maxi dress with a very high leg slit. I was tempted to pose Angelina style, but I refrained. The slit hit a bit high for my personal taste (if panties are on display, lining all the way!) so I have on my favorite basic black bodycon skirt underneath. The dress gives off a minimalistic, A. Wang type of feel, and that's what my style normally leans toward. But summer puts me in a slightly boho-y mood that even grey skies can't fight. So instead, I opted for this floral kimono top, a coin/leaf necklace, and my little fingernail ring. The fingernail ring has proved to actually be functional. It's currently covering up a very poorly painted nail. There are no shoes to be mentioned, as Anna and I decided to go barefoot in the dewy and very unstable grass. Don't want any broken ankles this summer.

Below is Anna. Introduce yourselves.

Q&A

[B] Who are your favorite designers?
[A] Raf Simon, the late Alexander McQueen, Jack McCullough, and Lazaro Hernandez.
[B] Where do you typically shop at?
[A] I shop at H&M and Urban Outfitters the most. I also like asos.com.
[B] Any pieces that you currently have your eye on?
[A] The PS1 in the blue/green print would be nice for the fall.
[B] What is your favorite summer trend?
[A] Pastels and peplum, even though my style isn't very girly.
[B] Do you foresee a career in fashion?
[A] Well, I want to go into journalism, so I guess it's possible.
